Today students looked for patterns in atomic structure within the first 20 elements by viewing the element posters created by students yesterday. We discussed valence electrons and the formation of ions. They then completed a worksheet on the valence electrons and ion formation for 6 of the elements. There will be a quiz on this on Thursday.
On Monday, students reviewd some basic chemistry terms. They then reviewed atomic structure and were assigned one element to make a poster about. The poster included the Bohr-Rutherford diagram and other useful information about the element. We then arranged the elements on the blackboard.
